Mary is a former Senior Client Partner in Korn Ferry’s Board & CEO Services Practice focusing on Board and NED appointments across sectors. Mary worked for over twenty years in business, including consulting at Accenture, with expertise on leadership development.
She became the Policy Officer to HM The Queen, advising on strategic change in the monarchy. She then moved into investment banking with ABN AMRO, as Global Operations Chief of Staff, Head of Management and Control, and on the Global Operations Investment Board, delivering cost efficiencies around the world. Following the acquisition by RBS, she took a strategic M&A integration, transformation and communications leadership role, before entering Parliament in 2010.
Mary was a Member of Parliament in London for five years and worked across six UK Government Departments, supporting and advising Ministers, including the Minister for Women and Equalities. As a parliamentarian, Mary’s roles included being the Prime Minister’s Small Business Ambassador for London, on the No.10 Policy Board and the Home Affairs Select Committee. She was the founder of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Women in Parliament, chaired an Inquiry which led to the creation of the Women and Equalities Select Committee in the UK Parliament, launched the new ‘Jane Austen’ £10 bank note with the Governor of the Bank of England. She has worked internationally with the UN Commission on the Status of Women, and on several campaigns in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh on economic empowerment of women, violence against women and girls, female foeticide and forced child marriage.
Mary is one of the Council’s leads on SMEs and a UK representative for the G20 EMPOWER Alliance.
