Maximising women’s contribution to future economic growth

Who we are

The Women’s Business Council is a government-backed, business-led council that was established in 2012 with the aim of ensuring real action to maximise women’s contribution to economic growth.

Key facts

On returning to work, women earn around 2% less on average for every year spent out of paid work.

There are 15.2 million women in employment in the U.K.

McKinsey estimates that bridging the gender gap in work would add £150 billion to the UK economy by 2025.
